I was born in Maplewood New Jersey and educated at Syracuse University and Pratt Institute. Living in New York City is an education in itself, and it has also made it possible to continue honing my skills at Pratt, S.V.A., and Parsons, where I also taught

Watercolor is my medium, and one of the classes I originated at Parsons, was Watercolor for the Figure. The flowing freshness and immediacy provide a unique approach to every illustration. The calligraphy of a brush stroke, soft edges of a wet-on-wet wash, the white of the paper gleaming through...art by hand...what a concept!

My paintings and drawings have been used for a wide range of advertising and editorial assignments, including annual reports, book and magazine covers, packages, etc. Lands' End has used my work on their cover, and to illustrate stories inside their Christmas catalogs. My art is also on the box of Kaopectate Lite, for children.... Now appearing at drugstores everywhere!

I have also illustrated twenty seven children's books. "Della Splatnuk, Birthday Girl" and the ‘Goodness Gorillas" were published as part of the "Chicken Soup For Little Souls" collection. The "Goodness Gorillas" has sold one hundred and seventy thousand copies so far, bringing the total of books I've had in print to over a million.

AND HOT OFF THE PRESS:

"Brain Builders What's Inside My Body" published by Lowell House. With a light and informative touch, this fully illustrated forty five page book explains the workings of our marvelous bodies, from belches to bones, and everything in between.

" Currently I'm doing watercolor portraiture and teaching
a class called "Easy Does It Watercolor," at the Jewish
Community Center, on W.76th Street and Amsterdam Ave.
As always, my artist friends and I enjoy sketching and
painting the visual banquet of New York City.
The important thing is to know where to find
the great scene that has restrooms and cheap eats nearby.
Come and draw with us."
